KLM is actively committed to the environment and to creating a sustainable airline industry. For the fifth consecutive year, our level of commitment was recognised. Together with Air France, we are once again listed as sector leader on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
Despite the many hurdles yet to take, we believe that in the coming decade biofuels will assume a prominent position in the field of sustainable aviation. For this reason, KLM is actively pushing the development of sustainable aviation fuels.
On the 23rd of November, a KLM Boeing 747 will perform a roundtrip over the Netherlands with one of its four engines powered by a sustainable bio kerosene.
This demonstration flight is followed by another concrete milestone on our Road to Sustainable Aviation Fuels:
“An expert event to discuss the current phase and future potential of sustainable biofuels for aviation and to announce our long-term biofuels strategy with our partners”
It is our pleasure to invite you for this unique expert event on Monday, 23 November 2009 at 15:15hrs at the DDA-building Hangar 2, Thermiekstraat 150 at Schiphol East. The event will end at approximately 18:00hrs.
